August 23, 2015

On Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 1108 hours, Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company was dispatched to the 2200 block of Strawberry Lane, in West Bradford Township, to assist Station 39 (West Bradford) with a house fire. Engine 36 with 6 volunteers made a quick response to assist our neighborhing company. Engine 36 arrived and assisted crews on location with fire suppression and overhaul.

Just a short time later, while Engine 36 was still operating in West Bradford, Station 36 was dispatched for a second call with Station 44 (Westwood), Engine 27-2 (Cochranville), and Engine 31-1(Sadsburyville) for a barn fire on the 3100 Block of Strasburg Road. The report was for of a large barn filled with hay and livestock that was well involved.

Station 36, while gathering a crew to make the response, was then dispatched for a 3rd call. Rescue 36 with Ambulance 23 (Avondale), Ambulance 37 (Modena), and Medic 93 (Brandywine Hospital) made the response North Chatham Road, in the area of Thouron Rd, for the Motorcycle accident. Medic 93 and Ambulance 23 arrived and found one rider thrown from the motorcycle, unconscious. A helicopter was immediately placed on standby to rapidly transport the patient to a Trauma Hospital.

At this time, Engine 36, was released from the West Bradford call, due to the nature and seriousness of the accident, and made the response to assist with the helicopter landing. The Medevac was told to stand down when Ambulance 37 and Medic 93 made the decision to transport the patient by ground to Christiana Hospital, as this would be the fastest way.

Once clear from the motorcycle accident, Engine 36 and Rescue 36 volunteers regrouped back at the station and then made the response with the Engine and Tanker, including a crew of 7, to Station 44 for the barn fire. Squad 36, with 2, made the response from Chester County Fire Training Center to assist as well. Crews worked on location for another 2 hours before returning back to the station and available.
