Brush Fire in West Marlborough

At 0707 hrs Station 36 was dispatched to the area of route 82 and apple grove for a large field fire. Reports of 1 acre had already burnt and was now extending towards a tree line.

Tac and Tanker 36 made the response with 4 volunteers. After some difficulty gaining access to the field, The crews arrive to find a 300'x300' area of tall dry grass involved and moving fast towards the tree line due to strong winds. Crews reported 15-20 foot flames at during the initial attack. Utility and ATV 36 arrived and also quickly went to work.

Captain 36 established Apple grove Command and requested 2 additional Brush units and an ATV. Brush 37
(Modena), 25(Longwood) and ATV 25 were dispatched to assist.

PML crews worked quickly and efficiently from the burnt side (inside out) to gain control of the quick moving fire. All remaining dispatched units arrived and were put to work clearing hot spots.

All units on location cleared just under two hours later at 0854hrs.
