On Monday evening, October 12, 2020, Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company hosted their annual open house. Except, this year, things looked much different.

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has brought hardship for all in one way or another and has certainly not left out emergency services. PML has worked with members to make sure they take necessary precautions when at the firehouse for training, meetings, and responding to calls.

With community engagement at the forefront, PML decided to move forward with an open house drive-through style to keep members and community safe, socially distant, and healthy. All apparatus was stationed along Firehouse Drive with firefighters (dawning appropriate PPE) available for questions while the community could experience each piece from the comfort of their vehicles. Additionally, audio recordings describing each apparatus's use were available via the website and QR code to promote social distancing.

Even though it was a rainy night, 31 active members were grateful to welcome around 200 attendees to the drive-through to support and learn about their local fire company.

Thank you to those who came out to support PML, the members behind the scenes who made everything run smoothly, and the firefighters who happily stood out in the rain to educate and raise awareness.
