| March 23, 2015 | |
| Yesterday 3/22/2015 at 145pm, Station 36 was dispatched for an Equestrian Rescue. A horse had walked out onto thick ice covering a pool and broke through. The owners attempted to lead the horse to the steps of the pool but the horse who had been in the water for an undetermined amount of time was not being helpful at all. Rescue 36 made the response with 5 personnel soon after dispatch. New Bolton Center Equine team, Chief and Rescue 36 arrived and began to formulate a game plan. After the OK from the Veterinarian it was decided to use 3" and 1" 3/4 hose to remove the horse. Crews were able to wrap the hose under the horse and behind to help lift and slide right out of the pool. One female was checked by Avondale Ambulance for prolonged exposure to the frigid waters. The Horse, "PJ" is expected to make a full recovery! |
